My work so far...
I'm a freelance journalist and student based in Manchester, UK, with a passion for writing and radio. I enjoy being able to stretch across a range of niches, and particularly enjoy hard news and feature writing.
Fresh off the back of an illustration and graphic design course, I began as a reporter at my university news website - The Northern Quota - after tumbling into an undiscovered love for journalism. My first stories saw me running between local crime and politics, and it was my early series on young deaths in police pursuits that cemented a passion for hard news. Two years on, I became the website's student editor, overseeing new stories and a new team, and eventually launching a special print edition by early summer.
It wasn't long before I got my first paid job as a writer for Hydrogen Industry Leaders, a B2B magazine specialising in the hydrogen sector. Throughout my time there, I worked in both English and Spanish to cover developments in the energy sector across Latin America and Brazil.
Off the back of my time as editor of NQ, I jumped head first into my next job as a sub editor at the Not Really Here Media Group, which owned the Tameside Reporter, Oldham Reporter, and Glossop Chronicle newspapers, alongside Tameside Radio. Much of my work may have involved fact-checking, spell-checking, and advert-checking, but my biggest role was in designing the pages - with the odd bit of reporting and radio in between.
Heading into my final year of university, I now work as a freelance journalist alongside my degree, currently writing features and reviews for the Salford-based art magazine Quays Life. When I'm not in the theatre, I'm live on air every week for the Gaydio breakfast show, serving the latest headlines for the LGBTQ+ community across the country.
